Ausplow Service Manager Ray Beecham (left) and Ramsay Bros’ (Sales Support) Wayne ‘Pilko’ Pilgrim bumped into each other recently at the Wooramel Roadhouse, south of Carnarvon. Ramsay Bros is Ausplow’s South Australian dealer with Wayne heavily involved in sales and service of DBS precision seeders and Multistream air seeders. Ray and Wayne have known each other for 19 years.

Ausplow Service Manager Ray Beacham recognised the voice instantly on a recent trip to Carnarvon.
On a holiday break with his wife Kay, Ray was at the fuel bowser when unbeknownst to Ray, his good friend Wayne ‘Pilko’ Pilgrim pulled up behind him and overheard Ray speaking about the DBS to a farmer.
Ray turned to see Pilko remonstrating with him: “C’mon hurry up we haven’t got all day.”
Wayne is in Sales Support for South Australian dealer Ramsay Bros and works at the company’s Cummins branch on the Eyre Peninsula. He has also enjoyed a stint as Service Manager.
“It was great to catch up with Pilko in such circumstances,” Ray said. “He was on long service leave and had gone straight up the middle (of South Australia) to Darwin and then came through WA on his way back home.
“I was on three weeks leave and we were heading to Carnarvon for a break.”
The encounter started a yarn-swapping conversation which had to stop when Ray and Wayne realised they were on schedules.
“I’ve known Pilko for 19 years and he’s a great fan of the DBS and Multistream,” Ray said. “In fact everybody involved with us at all the Ramsay Bros branches like the products and it shows in the company’s annual sales.
“Ramsay Bros sells a lot of DBS bars and Multistreams and have always supported us from the time they took on the franchise in 2000.”
Ray is a familiar face in South Australia visiting the State every year to catch up with Ausplow owners to ensure “everything is going okay”.
“I’m also able to troubleshoot when needed and provide advice to owners which is always appreciated.
“The feedback I get from owners is that they like the fact Ausplow is an Australian company and it’s easy to access parts and service.
“I’ve built a lot of meaningful relationships with owners not just in South Australia but everywhere we sell our products.”
Ray has just returned from another trip to South Australia, this time, ironically, visiting owners around the Cummins area.
Of course, it also meant a visit to see Pilko at the local dealership.
